First Post

So here we go people. My blog is up an running now, and I promise to give you all kinds of interesting and uninteresting things to read about (read: some things you will care about, and some things you will not, but that’s not my problem–not really). This would be a good time to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a student of English, I love reading and writing and keeping abreast of current events. I am also a contributing writer for www.helium.com under the name jmaynardk, so if you want to explore some of the other things I’ve written–as well as get a better idea of my style–go there and take a look. Just put jmaynardk in the search option on their site and viola, you’ll be able to see and read all the articles I have posted there.

Future posts will include thoughts on Blackwater USA (and other mercenary companies–sorry it’s not PC to call them mercenaries, they are private security contractors), other news items that I find interesting, scary, or just plain weird. I want this blog to be a resource for all its readers. I want it to be a place people can go to find some interesting facts that they may not have known about before. One example of this is Terramax, the driverless vehicle I read about the other day. That’s right, right now the US military, and private companies like Oshkosh Trucks are in the process of developing vehicles that can drive themselves. I find that pretty cool and kind of scary, but it gives me hope that one day I can have a car drive me. Just think about how cool that would be.

Also, if anyone reading this has idea or comments on what I’m writing here, let me know. If there is something you want me to write about, or if there is something you want more information on, let me know. I will do my best to address your comments and concerns.
